Dreamcatchers originate from Native American cultures.
The story behind them is they are made to look like a web, then decorated with ‘sacred’ items such as feathers and beads. These ‘webs’ catch any harm in the air including bad dreams. The bad dreams get stuck in the web and disappear in the daylight. The good dreams filter through the web and slide down the feathers and onto the sleeper, creating a peaceful nights sleep.
Children love this idea and it can help with bedtime and fears of the dark. Not only do they create a wonderful story but they act as amazing pieces of art in any home.
We have exclusive handmade dreamcatchers at Seaweed and Sand, each with unique finishings such as shells and beads. Available in store and online. Sweet dreams or beautiful nightmares?!
